A brief of COVID-19 virus
COVID19 is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus is not a sudden outbreak but has repeated its past over and over many decades, and has been pandemic at this period. Diving deep down to its history, tells the story of how it has been a part of human kind. The first case was isolated in 1960 as of patient suffering from cold. Over 8,096 patients were isolated as patient of corona virus in 2003, said to be as black year for the microbiologist. Similarly, according to Hong Kong and Saudi Arabian reports, list of several infected and dead patients was issued in 2012.
All of that, corona virus has been a curse to human kind as its first patient was diagnosed as COVID-19 patient suffering from pneumonia on December 2019, in Wuhan, China. On its current review (May 29, 2020), 5,933,322 coronavirus cases have been confirmed and recently there are 2,968,686 active cases, 362,629 people have died and all total of 2,602,007 has recovered all around the world.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Technological Revolutions
In general, artificial intelligence is the synchronization of human intelligence with machine algorithms. Artificial intelligence has simulated human behaviour to machines advancing their system with human psychology, computer science, and concept of linear regression, linguistic approaches and more.
As per the study conducted by Mckinsey Global Institute, it is estimated that artificial intelligence will create an additional value of $13 trillion annually by year 2030.
Along with machine algorithms, deep learning and neural network technology artificial intelligence has been able in rationalizing humans with inherent computer function.
However, currently we have been practicing the narrow concept of artificial intelligence but the goal is to achieve general intelligence where machines will be at the peak of their intelligence and will be able in performing every task that a human can.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) in Nepal
In the race of technical advancement, Nepal can’t deny with the truth of being digitalized and automating it’s all infrastructural development, practiced assets of different fields, empowering manpower and experts in their field of study. Different entertainment industries, banks, tourism industry, agricultural, educational and commercial sectors have identified their need to be strong enough in terms of technological surveillance.
However, Nepal has also put a way forward in terms of development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, financial technology and many more. Paaila Technology Pvt Ltd and Fusemachines Nepal Pvt Ltd are major companies working in the field of AI in Nepal. They are working with the vision of how they can integrate AI under every aspects of development within Nepal.
Currently, Fusesmachines is working with the goal of democratizing artificial intelligence in Nepal. They provide different training sessions in terms of AI and focus on every assets of AI i.e. Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing. On the same note, Paaila has also put a step forward in terms of AI. They are best known for their robotic and AI start-up in Nepal. Till date, they have introduced Ginger – Waiter Robot, Pari 2.0 and Chat-Robot, Pari1.0 as their success in robotic and AI industry. Naulo restaurant, sister company of Paaila Technology Pvt. Ltd. has featured their restaurant as first fully digitalized robotic restaurant in east-Asian market.
How AI can aid against Corona virus in Nepal?
Along with increasing risk of corona virus, whole world is connected through internet and technology. This brings up a revolutionary and drastic change in automation of technological lifestyle. Countries all over the world are learning new ways to maintain their dignity and rule their power.
Last of, Nepal government has launched a mobile application called Hamro Swasthya and website as covid19.mohp.gov.np to help Nepalese citizens with reliable information on their health outbreaks and to work immediately on future issues in coming days. Following up, government has also launched a viber community named as MoHP NEPAL COVID-19, so everyone gets easy access on relative and correct information. But this can’t be moralized as permanent solution to fight against virus.
Artificial Intelligence can play a major role in slowing down and controlling the spread of corona virus in Nepal as of follows:
- Big data, speech recognition, semantic understanding technology can be used to make follow-up visits, making us aware of the daily life pattern at risk of infection.
- Another modern approach of AI, i.e. Heuristic Search Algorithm can help in diagnosis of coronavirus patient by identifying the pattern of their genome. It shortens the time making the test goes faster where artificial intelligence helps in finding the pattern amid the deluge of data.
- Integration of AI with robotism is considered in building automatize workplace controlled using human intelligence minimizing the risk of infection and on the same note justifying county’s economy in a more productive manner. Here are some success stories on robotism following up artificial intelligence: UVD Robot, Xenex X5 Lightstrike, Starship Delivery Robot, Zehn Robotics and many more.
- Using big data for understanding the market value and demands, neural network technology, deep learning and machine learning algorithms can dramatically ramp up country’s GDP at its higher scale.
All these measures can be an effective approach against corona virus supporting country’s economic development, minimizing risk for human and property loss, increasing employment, literacy rate and empowering country scalability and productivity regardless of its limited territory as compared to other countries.
Nation, Knowledge and Future
Relying on all basis of development, concept of blockchain technology, internet of things, data science, deep learning, and neural network along with artificial intelligence can determine new ways in confirming positive and sustainable aspects of development. As of now, Nepal government has put its hand deep down on the advancement of technology and started synchronizing of all infrastructural and different assets of development with artificial intelligence.
